The Department of General Services announced today that it has been honored by the Elite Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Network with an award for Outstanding Leadership for assisting disabled veteran business enterprises (DBVE) compete for state contracting opportunities.

The award was presented to DGS Procurement Division representatives at the group’s national conference last week in San Diego.

As the state’s business manager, DGS oversees state contracting and procurement practices including the certification of small businesses and DVBEs to help them compete for a share of the approximately $8 billion the state spends annually for goods, services, information technology, construction and public works. Most recently, the state has directed $2.4 billion to small businesses.
