A DGS tree crew cut down the state’s official Christmas tree today at the Latour Demonstration State Forest near Redding and prepared it for transport to the State Capitol where it will arrive tomorrow between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) will transport the tree with a California Highway Patrol escort down Interstate 5 South to the Q Street exit, and will then proceed left onto 10th Street.

Set up will start approximately noon tomorrow where the tree will be placed in the west lawn of Capitol Park in preparation for holiday decorations.
