DGS joined the California Government Operations Agency, CAL FIRE, California State Parks, California ReLeaf and the Sacramento Tree Foundation today with a tree planting at the Executive Mansion in downtown Sacramento.

The tree – a drought-tolerant strawberry madrone – was planted to kick off California Arbor Week and to unveil winners of a statewide elementary school poster contest celebrating the importance of trees to our environment.

Children from Sacramento’s Penleigh Child Development Center helped with the planting ceremony.
